InfraSound Detector is an app that allows you to detect infrasound acoustic signals below a user-defined frequency, with a default range of up to 30 Hz. Infrasound can travel long distances and pass through obstacles without loss.
This detector can be useful in various cases, including:
- Finding suspicious low-frequency noise, vibrations, and sounds in building structures.
- Registering hazardous atmospheric phenomena such as aircraft wake vortices, clear air turbulence, severe thunderstorms, tornadoes, seismic events, and volcano activities. It can even detect tornadoes from long distances.
- Detecting underground activity, such as tunnel digging.
- Detecting infrasonic weapons that cause physical pain without human detection.
- Checking the quality of bass sounds (low frequency) in subwoofer speaker systems and loudspeakers.
The app can display the results of detection on the screen in foreground mode and also present them through notifications or sound/vibration in background mode when the Android device screen is turned off. All events can be recorded in a log for later analysis.
The lower working frequency depends on the audio specification of the current Android device and can go as low as 4 Hz. For better results, it is recommended to use a high-quality Android device with an internal microphone. However, sensitivity to the lowest frequencies may be compromised. Alternatively, a special external infrasound microphone can be connected to the audio jack (microphone input of the earplug connector).
The app is based on the fact that analog systems (such as the microphone and amplifier of an Android device) do not have ideal characteristics and can allow infrasound signals to infiltrate down to 4 Hz.
Features:
- No ads
- Signal level indication
- Vibration indication of alarm events
- Automatic event log recording with the option to include signal spectrum and location information
- Conversion of infrasonic signals into audible sounds for listening
- Background mode with notifications that runs quietly and continues even after device reboots
- Adjustable battery consumption in background mode by selecting the data update rate
- Comprehensive spectrum analysis with different ways to display results: spectrum, waterfall, oscilloscope
- Adjustable frequency range and selectable frequency resolution between 0.1 and 1 Hz
